FIELD TRIPS

Schools and home-schools groups can visit Ocean Adventures for a fun, educational, and hands-on marine science experience. We offer reduced rates for field trips to encourage students to become better stewards of our precious marine resources. For other groups please send a request to groups@imms.org.

Come learn about marine mammals, stingrays, parrots, and more! For our base field trip price, we offer a free roam experience that allows teachers to plan an entire day learning about Dolphins, Stingrays, Sea Lions, and more! We do recommend that you plan to be at our facility for at least 2 hours in order to see all of our shows and informative talks. We do offer additional add-ons that will make your field trip more exciting as well! We also assign areas for lunches at check-in.

Please plan to be at our facility for 2 to 3 hours. All of our shows and informative talks are roughly 15 minutes long and happen 3 times a day. We do provide a map and times guide to the teacher that books your field trip at confirmation as well as to the lead teacher at the time of check-in.

We offer additional add-ons to make your field trip more educational. These add-ons include our one hour Educational Add-on with an Educator, the self-guided Marine Education Guidebook, Bird Stick packs, and pre-ordered lunches.

In our one hour Educational Add-on, you will have the opportunity to choose 2 topics from our interactive options. Topics and activities include Conservation, Sharks & Rays, Turtle Talk, Marine Debris and Dolphin Rescue Relay. You will be with an educator during the entire hour of this experience and will have hands on activities with most of these options. This experience is an additional $2 per person (students, teachers, adults).

IMMS Student Mini-Camps are available for one-, two-, or three-day (s) and provide an in-depth look at Conservation Program hands-on exploration of the marine environment and its inhabitants.  This day camp experience is customizable to students and teachers’ needs.  Please visit our Student Mini-Camp Adventure page at https://oceanadventures.us/student-mini-camps/

Our newest add-on is a Marine Education Guidebook. This is an 18-page guidebook that is great for any ages (Kindergarten – 12th grade). This guidebook includes three different scavenger hunts that are tailored to three different age groups. It also includes information about our conservation efforts along with activities that will make our museum interactive! This option is $1.50 per book and will include a recycled pencil.

We offer bird sticks to be pre-ordered in packs of 30 at $30 per pack. This will save the students $0.50 per stick. This option will need to be discussed at the time of booking.

We offer field trips the chance to pre-order lunches in bulk. Lunch combos are  available for $8.00 with the choice of  hamburger or chicken nuggets, chips and choice of a drink. Pre-ordering lunches will ensure that you get our lunchtime in advance as well as an advance picnic area reservation, we ask that this is discussed at the time of booking, as orders need to be placed and paid for in full 7 days before your trip.

We require that field trip bookings are made 1 week in advance.

Pre-ordered lunches need to be ordered and paid, in full, 1 week before arrival.

The teachers are required to chaperone and be responsible for the students behavior, actions, and safety during their visit.

A single payment must be made at check-in. Payment can be made with cash, school or organizational check, or purchase order.  Major credit cards may be accepted and will have a processing fee assessed.

Everyone coming into our facility must have a wristband. This includes teachers, bus drivers, students, and adults. The lead teacher handling check-in will need to verify the wristbands and sign that they received the correct number of wristbands.

Because we do offer 1 complimentary chaperone for every 10 students, we do ask that they stay with the students during your visit. We know that it is difficult to keep track of everyone and that is why we offer the complimentary entry for the teachers to stay with their students.  The teachers are required to chaperone and be responsible for the students behavior, actions, and safety during their visit.

Please do not climb on any of our structures while in the park.

Please listen to our staff  and follow the directions on signage at any of our exhibits.  This is for everyone’s safety.

Please remain away from the glass in the arena for safety.

While in the Ray Pool please kneel on the top step for safety.

When coming to our facility we want everyone to come in with a learning spirit! We are an educational facility and would love everyone to leave with new knowledge of our environment and the animals that we rehabilitate here.

Sack lunches are permitted for field trips. We also have a specific area for lunch drop off in the morning. We do suggest that lunches are packed in boxes, totes, or ice chests to keep them protected from the environment.

We do have an open courtyard feel, so please come dressed appropriately for the weather (jackets, sunblock, etc.).

We do understand that there is a lot of planning that goes into scheduling a field trip, so we do understand if you need to cancel or reschedule. We want to make sure that your school can come back when it is convenient to you but we do book dates fast. Because of this, we do ask that in the case of cancellation or rescheduling that you do so as soon as possible. Payment is due at check-in for field trip entry, educational add-on, guidebook, and bird sticks. Payment for lunches is due 1 week, in full, before your field trip. Payment for lunches is non-refundable.
